Personality

A true knight in shining armour, though often with none of the charming conversation. Mercedes has never been one for small-talk, or even talking at all. When she does speak, it is eloquent, as she was taught - and yet, can tend towards being direct or blunt despite this. She's devoted to helping those in need - of her own volition and desire. Surprisingly, she is good with children, and does not treat them with the bluntness that her adult peers must endure from her.
Mercedes' biggest aspiration is to help all those she can, and be a shining example of good in the world. Perhaps it is due to her somewhat sheltered life before becoming a paladin, but her naïveté often causes her not to question those around her, especially her mother superior. Still, she is possibly the most just and fair Flame Paladin - and perhaps the only one who would insist on a fair trial rather than being the judge, jury, and executioner... But she is unaware of this.

General Overview and Backstory

A paladin of The Flame, and one most holy - as she was chosen and raised by the honorable Reverend herself. Mercedes has the rare ability to heal others, but she seemingly cannot heal herself. Despite this, she is a near-unstoppable force in battle, and the very picture of a stoic, devoted knight. Is it determination and selflessness that drives her, or reckless martyrdom? Regardless of the reason, she is the sword and shield of The Flame. By her oath, she not only carries out the will of fire, but also helps those in need.
Being raised by The Reverend, Mercedes was quite sheltered for most of her life. However, she was told often of how others can suffer, and need someone to guide them. Combining this with the stories she'd heard of fairytales, of knights in shining armour, she felt from a young age that she wanted to make a difference. After begging The Reverend to let her train in combat, she was allowed - and quickly devoted herself to training night and day. One day, while training, her sparring partner was hurt accidentally. This was when her power to heal was discovered, and The Reverend took quick notice.
